Day 1: St. Gerlach - Würzburg: Triple-test-day!

The first day of the Wintertrial is also the longest day of the rally. It starts with the traditional test on the grounds of the Valkenburg Casino. After that we drive throug the rolling hills of the southern side of Sauerland. Direction? Würzbrug, after another two tests on ‘Nurnburgring’ and ‘Opel Testzentrum’! |

Wow, what a day. 500 Kilometers, three tests, two regularities and only 7 minutes of penalties. We’re proud. Especially since this afternoon we will be able to do better regularities now we know the exact milage differs 3% to the ones on our tripmaster. So tomorrow will even be better!
The first test at the casino was quite okay. On the religious ‘Ring’ we crashed a pilon (3 minute penalty). Curious about the Opel test? Click the webclip! After dinner we will see how we score in the overall results. Anything special today? Well; last year’s winners -Arthur Valkieser en Sabine Valkieser Stuiver- blew up their engine even before the Nordschliefe. Hope they will be back on track tomorrow. And three-time-winner Fannel had to quit after 8 kilometers as he broke his diff at the casino test. Will both club and trial class have lost their most favorite concurrents today? We will find out tomorrow. We’ll be back! |
